Through the pandemic, it was challenging to work on selling food, especially with restaurants, cafes, and other venues practically shut, with most working from home for a significant part. As a company, we manufacture dressings and in catering, and we supply it to our clients. While there are aspects of the work that we handle that can be done remotely, there are parts that have to be done in person, and there is no way we can get through the process.

There were many challenges when working within the service industry and maintaining the rules and restrictions going around. We had to make sure that we were meeting their requirements. Otherwise, getting things done would be challenging.

We noticed many were making a large number of mistakes when they were getting through the process, and we were working with them to solve the issues they were getting through. We documented some of the common mistakes so others would be able to work through them and not make them moving forward.

1. Not asking enough questions about the service they want
Most people assume various aspects of their meals and then are surprised when they receive them. They should be asking more questions about the process if they are planning on getting through and understanding it better. There is a lot that you have to figure out when it comes to retail and they should have that information before beginning to work in the industry.

2. Underestimating the amount they need
Take great care in knowing what you need. Always create a system where you know your requirements and that of the client. You want to make sure that you can get through a process and are capable of meeting the requirements of your clients to get through. Quantities are an important part of retail, and you want to make sure that you are working with those in mind. In retail, all costs should be accounted for so have a proper system to account for these.

3. Not communicating your wishes very well
Make sure your customers and you are on the same page. We have conversations with our clients and understand their requirements. You should explain to the clients that their requirements do not make as much sense if they do not. We offer them solutions that make sense at their price point and ideas on why those would be better alternatives.

4. Hire the best you can. Get referrals from other clients that used the service
You are only as good as the team that you are working with. You want to make sure that you are working with the best. When your friends or colleagues tell you about a specific brand that they found better than the rest, you should work with that one considering their information. You also want to make sure that it makes sense in the long run.
